Topic Subject : Re: Alginate volume |
|
Ann, I am embarrassed that I don't know the answer to you question with all the experimentation I have done with different alginates. I will not be able to mix some samples until next Tues., the first time I will be back in the studio. I will carefully mix at least a half dozen different alginates and post the results.
In the meantime, if Bob Brumley who happens to be a genuine scientist reads your question, perhaps he can give you an answer. Ed McCormick who makes the stuff probably knows as well.
I will say that in the past I have marked the water level on a container and then checked it again after mixing in the alginate and found that the volume had increased VERY little. If I need, say, a pint of mixed alginate for some application, I start with a pint of water and add the proper amount of alginate and have little excess though some does stay in the mixing container. Dave
