HI Dave, Thanks for your quick reply.
I had a feeling that the volume didn't increase very much but I've got a mould that I have made for casting a 'handshake' and I didn't want to use any more alginate that I had to.
I've just got back in to life casting and have been experimenting with some 3 year old "slow" alginate but it has been setting all most as soon as I have got it out of the bucket,( I was surprised that it worked at all) so all my calculations have been a bit hit and miss. I am now going to use some new alginate and I just didn't want to waste any. I know the amount of water that I need to use so I will just mix up a little less than that.
