Ben, glad to have been of help so far.
I call the molds you are asking about "secondary molds" to distinguish from the alginate molds. I have a series of three articles on just this subject that explain in detail how to make them. I have been working with Ed McCormick to get all of my articles posted in the ALI Library. These three should be available within a few days. I explain different rubbers and how to apply. I also tell how to make the mother molds out of Forton MG so that they are only about 1/8" thick and light enough to easily handle but very strong. The "nipple" that Clay talked about are explained in another article titled "Another Little Trick for Some Molds" which also be available within a few days. I am really proud of how well these little nipples work. I have really got secondary molds down to a science after making several per month for about 15 of the over 20 years I have been life casting.
Ben, I would still rather talk than type, if you would please call me at (303) 321-1074, I would be glad to talk molds and also how to get rid of the lumps in alginate. Dave
