Topic Subject : Re: Plaster in Bathroom? |

I think many of us forget that a plaster life casting is just that - plaster. Now how do you finish plaster?
In the old days they painted with whole milk, perhaps 6-7 coats. The casine in the milk forms a wondeful glowing marble-like surface. No smell. I do that a lot it is quick, easy and also protects the surface as well.
We still use casine as an additive in wall paints. But any paint or finish that you would apply to a plaster wall is fine. Varnish is okay too, but yellows.
So a can of clear matte polyurethane spray available at the paint, hardware, Lowes or Home Depot. Krylon makes one as does Rustoleum. Spray three light coats on both sides and the edges. Make it a very light spray to avoid drips.
OR
Next time cast using Forton MG. It is completely water proof and may be used outside. I think I put an article about how to use Forton MG in the Library. If not send me an email and I'll send it to you info@artmolds.com
