Topic Subject : Alginates and Algislo |
|
There are two articles of mine that have recently been included in the ALI Library which could help clarify some of the recent discussions here. One is "How to Extend the Setting Time of Alginate Testing a New Product" which is about Algislo which was mentioned by CJ. Keep in mind that I wrote this article prior to the arrival of FiberGel E/FX which was tested in the second article "Teasting a New Alginate or FiberGel..." I much prefer FiberGel for casting torsos and heads though there are other acceptable choices and availability becomes a major consideration.
I agree with Ed, Forton MG is a better choice for a final casting material than any plaster, hydocal, hydrostone, etc. Not mentioned is the fine crop of mold that I have seen grow on plaster which probably could have been prevented with proper sealing.
