Ben, I have been doing life casting for over 20 years and sculpting for a lifetime. I get no dimples in my castings and there are any number of ways they can result as mentioned by Dan and Oliver. I suspect that your major problem is as Dan said, the burlap is two stiff. I use cheesecloth and fast setting Impression Dental Plaster. By the way, it takes me about 20 to 25 minutes to do a torso casting and I get NO distortion of breasts either. I have written a two articles on the advantages of cheese cloth over the plaster bandages that most use.
