Topic Subject : Re: A new topic has been added-The best alginate |
|
We are a manufacturer of both traditional and silaca free
alginates - 12 diofferent varieties and formulas. We have
experminated with most manufacturer's material. I can say that
most manufacturer's alginate will preform well enough to provide
excellent results in baby casting.
So that translates to 'don't blame the material - improve your
mold making skills.' That comes with patience. observation and
practice. EG Air bubbles are the most basic problem in mold
making. Learn about how to reduce them. There are many articles
floating around the internet - Google them. Once you understand
how the presence of air inferes with the quality of the end result
then you can turn you attention to how to take a mold of a
wriggling baby -- or whether you should wait until it sleeps.
Baby hands and feet are always challenges. You have to be up to it
be acquiring the studio tricks of those that do it well. I suggest
you get together with a local baby caster to share experiences and
methods.

>Which is the best alginate for casting babies or childrens hands
and feet? I get a lot of imperfections or totally ruined molds
from babies or young children who don't keep still. Very
frustrating!!
