Topic Subject : Re: HELP: Casting materials other than Plaster ?

Adi,
For casting in the damp alginate, you can use either the plaster as you have stated or Hydro Cal 300Q
I have used smooth cast 325 but it leave a rough finish, although in some instances this could be beneficial.
As far as the metal goes, I am a certified Lumimore applicator. You have the ability to cast in the plaster or whatever you want and then spray the finished product with the Luminore and polish as you would metal.
There are limitations to this tho.
I prefer to make my molds out of the Body Double or other silicone rubbers and then cast directly with the cold cast metal. Doing it this way you do not have to necessarily use the Luminore, you can use other off the shelf resins and metal powders. I have noticed that you cannot achieve the same sheen and polish using the other mgeneric resins, but the effect is still there none the less.
Hope this helps.
This piece was cast using the metal powder and an off the shelf resin--still needs polishing but you can see the effect
