Topic Subject : Re: Fibers and mother molds |
|
Hi Kendall,
A couple of years ago we were discussing this topic about bonding alginate to the mother mold and I wasn't able to get my hands on cotton batton, so I thought that maybe some poly filler (used for furniture, pillows) might work. I asked a few people from this forum what they thought that it may be too heavy and course. This didn't stop my determination so I went looking, I found a poly fiber in Walmart, tried it and it worked great, way better than the cheese cloth I was using.
It's called eco-friendly fiber fill by eco craft, it says it is made from corn, comes in a bag the size of a bed pillow, and it actually rolls out so you can use a thin sheet to cover your whole or most of you body cast and then when the alginate cures enough you pull off most just like the cotton batton.
Unfurtunatly for me I can't find it anywhere, Walmart out here in Canada doesn't carry it anymore, so I just went to a fabric store and purchased their extra fine poly filler and it does work just as well.
Hope that helps
Diane
