Fiona, safety concerns in life casting is another subject which I have written an article about. The point of the article was to make people aware that there are some safety concerns. I am sending you a copy of the article and will gladly do so to anyone else who wants one.
I have never had anyone sign a disclaimer which, I suspect, would not protect the artist from being sued if someone actually were injured. While I am not a layer, it has always been my understanding that one can not sign away ones rights.
