Topic Subject : Plaster mold releas & cleaners |
|
While we’re on the subject,
I’m trying to find a way to caste polyester resin in the plaster body molds and not have an oily residue left over on or in the resin.
Sometimes it’s not cost effective to do a whole body caste using silicone but I’m having trouble finding a mold release that actually works or using oil base products and find oil residue seeping through the final finish.
I’ve tried spray silicone, it doesn’t work & we have to pry the pieces out.
We’ve tried petroleum jelly and cholesterol and the pieces detach easily but they don’t clean up. We’ve used mineral spirits, dish soap, degreasers, acetone, dishwasher detergents and still find oil residue seeping out of the resin weeks later.
Any ideas?
