Alginate should not stick to the skin as a basic formula. However, some
manufacturers add a glycol product to reduce dust which can cause that to
happen.
It is best not to use any release on the skin before the application of
alginate impression material as it reduces friction and thus the ability of
the alginate to remain in place.
Besides the ArtMolds brand, I believe Accucast and Smooth-on are available
from local suppliers. All of these are designed for life casting and will
not stick to the skin.

NEW! MoldGel SILFREE. A revolutionary formula.
Made with all food-grade ingredients. It nourishes
the earth when discarded. 3-to-1 mix ratio yields
twice the volume as those 1-to-1 brands. Delayed
shrinkage for delayed casting - so creamy smooth, too.

Wow, I have to say I've never had that much trouble with alginate. Rather
than baby oil, try a hand cream or lotion instead. I usuallt don't use
anything as a release with alginate.

Sticking alginate:--
Help me please on the last two casts I have taken the alginate has stuck to
the
models skin so much that it tears and turns inside out when I try to remove
the
mould, if I get the model to apply baby oil first will the alginate stay in
place or just slide off onto the floor?any advice please as this is getting
frustrating as I dont like to waste the models time not to mention the cost
involved with alginate and plaster
Best regards Wayne
