Topic Subject : RE: A new topic has been added-Re: A new topic has been added-Sticking alginate

You Brits and Canadians must be a lot more hairy than us pasty skin-smooth
Americans. But I do hope you are referring to your hairy men models rather
than hairy women models.

ArtMolds manufactures a water soluble hair release especially for hairy
areas, beards, hair on heads, eyebrows. Never any trouble though in using
alginates on hairless skin or fined haired skin.

We as manufacturers are highly concerned on safety as I believe our last
product liability premium was in excess of ,000. So we are very cautious
in giving product use advice. I can say without contradiction you do not
need a skin release with alginate - except of course where hairy is long.

Short hair slips easily out of alginate. Long hair tangles in it and will
rip the alginate damaging your mold.

God bless the ancient Viking hordes and their wild genes.

Warmest regards

Ed McCormick

------------Silica-Free & Oh So GREEN------->

NEW! MoldGel SILFREE. A revolutionary formula.
Made with all food-grade ingredients. It nourishes
the earth when discarded. 3-to-1 mix ratio yields
twice the volume as those 1-to-1 brands. Delayed
shrinkage for delayed casting - so creamy smooth, too.

Well said john, I'm all for safety too!
You can NEVER take a chance with a model, I'd rather loose detail than a
model!
I use a little Nevia cream when I did Aginate castings. It just smoothens
the skin enough so the Alginate doesn't get fussy with the fine hairs or dry
skin.
