Topic Subject : Re: Sticking alginate |
|
Wayne, I haven't been lifecasting quite as long as John, only 20 years in my case, but I have never seen alginate stick to skin and I do not use a release except on hair. If hair is the problem, Iwould be glad to email you a couple of articles I wrote for "Sculpture Journal" this time last year that thoroughly cover the subject. However, I would like to approach your problem from an entirely different angle. Is it possible that the alginate is being held to the skin by suction because it isn't bonded well enough to the supporting mold? I hope I'm not insulting you with that question but that is the only way that I can imagine any of the alginates that I have used, and I have used many, would stick to skin. If this is the problem, I've got an article or two on this subject as well. Dave
