Very funny Guy. You made me chuckle this morning.

I certainly agree with you. You must use a release when using a skin safe
silicone molding material. Silicone is so strong that even the finest hair
will stick fast in it making for a very uncomfortable artist/model
experience.

That is the place for Nivea cream. I use it for that.

The forum is a wonderful place when you think about it. Those less
experienced get to share the techniques of those more experience.

The big lesson is that there no one right way. Experienced artist blend the
techniques they have picked up from others or developed themselves over
time.

So this is not a place to criticize technique - because if it works without
harm to others, it works. The forum is a place to pick up great pointers.
What works for me may not work for them and visa versa. But the techniques
are all worth incorporating into our artist's tool kit.

Great artists, such as Hitchcock, Guy, Schoonraad, Parvin, Butler and so
many others that I am afraid I'll miss your names have developed their own
'best' ways. You can see it in their finished pieces.

Regards

Ed McCormick

------------Silica-Free & Oh So GREEN------->

NEW! MoldGel SILFREE. A revolutionary formula.
Made with all food-grade ingredients. It nourishes
the earth when discarded. 3-to-1 mix ratio yields
twice the volume as those 1-to-1 brands. Delayed
shrinkage for delayed casting - so creamy smooth, too.

Re: A new topic has been added-Sticking alginate:--
Like John said, it does not hurt to add a little protection, people
moisturize all the time.

The hair I was refering to Ed, was Vellus hair or "peach fuzz".
Vellus hair is a very soft and short hair that grows in most places on the
human body in both sexes. It is usually less than 2mm long and the follicles
are not connected to sebaceous glands. It is most easily observed in women
and children.
You have to be more carefull when doing a silicone casting.

As for the rest of the body, I was refering to dry skin especially the
hands.

Now you have to excuse me, I have to go shave my back...
