I read the whole story of vac-u-forming. I have worked with really large
vac-u-form machines and heating a large sheet of thermoplastic til it's
droopy is tricky at best. Still, it gives you a continuous plastic barrier.
Then again, plastic eventually degrades in the sun.
The classic way to get a metallic surface that stands up outdoors is with
leaf, be it gold, silver, copper... That's how domes are done.
I have been told that if plaster is painted with certain chemicals in
solution, it can be plated. Never had it done. But wouldn't that be awesome.
