I have achieved a henna look just using brown acrylic only slightly
watered down on the bare plaster. I've found it's better to do it on
bare plaster rather than primed because it sinks into the plaster
slightly and so doesn't wear off - kind of like a tattoo effect. You
can varnish or seal over the top of course when you're finished
