Topic Subject : Art and re:topic

I am an artist in the uk. I have had paintings in exhibition in the royal academy and in the mall galleries. I am scared every single submission that my work and my vision may not be accepted. I really believe that its the perception of the viewer that counts. If the work raises an emotion or a debate then that work becomes art for every person to view, assess and describe how they might react.
Take Alisons portrait of a disabled mother in trafalger square.
I had a debate with a taxi driver, is it art and why. He did'nt want to view it because it wasn't asthetically pleasing. It wasn't meant to be. Its a symbol of courage over adversity. Its a symbol of how the united kingdom accepts race, creed, colour and disability, how we accept challenges and rise above it, how all reality is beautiful.
Sex is a reality. it is also beautiful. Im concerned that children are dragged into every debate. You should take time out to be a parent and observe what your children are viewing.
